Rafael Cunha
Rafael plays a key role in shaping JAB’s investment strategy and overseeing financial performance across its global consumer and insurance portfolio. Rafael is responsible for JAB’s global funding, debt capital markets, structured transactions, and relationship with banks, rating agencies and fixed income investors.
He brings approx. 20 years of experience in private equity, investment management, and corporate finance. At JAB, he co-led the opening of its first office in emerging markets (São Paulo), has executed approximately $85 billion in structured finance transactions with global financial institutions, and participated in more than $20 billion of bond issuances and other capital markets transactions. Before becoming Partner, he served as JAB’s Chief Financial Officer and as Interim Chief Financial Officer of Espresso House. Previously, he worked at Private Equity Firms Patria Investments (in partnership with Blackstone) and Apax Partners; and was a consultant at McKinsey & Company. He began his career as an entrepreneur.
He serves on the Boards of several JAB companies, including Espresso House and Panera Bread. Rafael holds an MBA by Stanford University.
